For this set of designs the theme is cakes.... and lots of them! Whilst I try to eat healthily most of the time, it’s nice to indulge in a sweet treat now and again. I love to take some time to relax, usually with a cup of tea ...and a slice of cake goes perfectly well with this.
For my first design in this set I've depicted a big slice of Victoria sponge cake, with pink icing and a juicy red strawberry on top. This classic cake really is one of my favourites and strawberries taste so nice! Plus they make me think of the summer, which can't be bad!
For the next design in the set I've depicted a tall cake, befitting a grand birthday party, or perhaps even a wedding. The cake is decorated with swags of icing and has summer berries perched on the top of it. The cake stand adds an air of elegance and formality to this cake. The cake stand adds an air of elegance and formality to this cake. A simple decorative border in turquoises and pinks surrounds the cake, creating a pretty design.
Then I decided that a cupcake would fit really well into the circular stitchable shape. My cupcake has loads of sugar frosting on it and is finished off with a cherry on top. The stripes in the background suggest pretty turquoise wallpaper. The cupcake sits on an emerald green plate, creating a colourful picture.
For the fourth and final design in this set I decided to move away from the cakes theme; to add a bit of variety to it. Cakes are often baked with love, for friends or family, so this is why I've included the word 'love' in this design. The font I've used is elegant and stands out well in the black thread colour. Also, the sentiment of love seems appropriate for the heart-shaped stitchable template, as the heart denoted love. The flowers shown are roses, which are often used to signify love. The turquoise background ties the whole thing together to create a pretty design.
These were really fun design to do; I got to use lots of pretty fondant and berry colours and I got to depict some of my favourite cakes! To create a cohesive love, I made sure that the whole set uses the same pinks, reds, turquoises, and greens. All in all this is a fun set of designs which I hope you enjoy stitching!
